Have you ever worked with heart beads? These beads are equally popular as any other type of beads but many people think that they are only intended for creating jewelry for kids. They have a misconception that these beads are available in only plastic material. If you have ever explored the markets for jewelry findings and bead supplies, and if you have ever searched for the heart beads specifically then you will find that there is a huge quantity of materials to choose from for these heart beads.
I recently made a journey to the markets to find variety in the heart beads available. I was amazed to find such exotic variety. Here I have shared my experience…. Take a look at the types of beads I found at the shops:
Plastic and velvet
These were the velvet heart shaped plastic beads spacers. The plastic material has a layer of velvet and because of the material, I was really attracted to buy them. Although they were big to make jewelry items, but I work on other crafty projects too so I found them useful for many crafty projects.
Puffed shaped charm
These beads had heart shape but they were a little puffed. They were basically meant to be used as charms for pendants, earrings and even anklets. They are quite common, you can find them from almost any bead shop easily.
Flat back beads
I found these beads really attractive as they were different. There were no holes, only a flat back was there which means you have to stick them. I used them on clothes, for making earrings and rings as well. I am going to further use them for Valentine’s Day projects.
Acrylic heart shaped beads
These were small pearly acrylic beads which were connected together to form hearts. It would have taken me days to make such hearts myself so I bought these readily. They were not expensive at all.
Multi-facetted glass heart shaped beads
These were the multi-facetted heart glass beads which weren’t actually made from glass but it appeared that they are because they were reflecting.
As I explored more and more shops, I found many variety in these heart beads. I must say if you think they are just available in plastic material and they are meant for making kids’ jewelry only, then you are missing many opportunities of working with the variety in these that is out there in the markets.
The more you explore, the more ideas for jewelry making come in mind. But I had already bought so many of them, so I decided to just head home and get started on planning what jewelry items and crafty projects to work on using these heart beads.
